I Only Got N39 Billion From Fraudulent Malabu Deal- Etete Tells British Court-PREMIUM TIMES

Dan Etete
By Nicholas Ibekwe
In a desperate attempt to muddle-up facts, convicted felon, Dan Etete, has told a British High Court that he is not the owner of Malabu Oil and Gas and thus not the recipient of the whole $1.1 billion (N173 billion) fraudulently transferred to Malabu by the Goodluck Jonathan administration. The money was paid by oil giants, Shell and Eni, through the federal government, to Malabu.
Mr. Etete, a former minister of petroleum, told the court, in a testimony he gave on a breach of contract suit brought against him over the sale of the controversial oil block OPL 245, that he only made N37.5 billion ($250 million) working as a consultant for Malabu, the Economist is reporting.
PREMIUM TIMES had reported how Mr. Etete is the sole signatory into the bank accounts that the federal government paid about $800 million (N126 billion) of the oil bloc sale into.
However, Mr. Etete, who was convicted for money laundering in France in 2007, immediately contradicted himself in the same testimony when he admitted to being the sole signatory to Malabu’s account and couldn’t provide any evidence of other shareholders.

Former governor of Ekiti State, Engineer Segun Oni is not yet off the hook as the state government has reiterated its plan to probe him over alleged malpractices that rocked his administration.  This is contrary to reports in some national dailies yesterday that the incumbent governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has jettison the idea of probing him.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo, who gave the clarification yesterday in his office, said there was misperception of his earlier statement made during the village square meeting on Thursday at Efon.

Why Is David Mark Lying About The Car He Bought For Tuface?

Is it possible for another person to buy this expensive car as a wedding gift for Tuface and Annie Idibia and label it as a gift from Senate President David Mark? The controversy is on but the guess is that the car was actually bought by David Mark who didn't expected the negative criticisms now coming his way.

David Mark's media adviser is however claiming that his boss was not in Dubai and as such could not have given the said car to Tuface and Annie. But see this photo below...

EXPOSED! Why Jonathan Pardoned A Thief, Alamieyeisegha

Presidential pardons are used all over the world and have their basis in Matthew 6:12, which states "and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us". The principle is also found in the Qur’an which says “But if you pardon and exonerate and forgive, Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Qur’an, 64: 14].
Hence, Presidential pardons have the effect of treating a conviction as though it never happened. It removes the stigma and restores the convict to normal life. The pardon is a prerogative of a grantor...

My name is Tony Anenih

A character cartoon by a Nigerian about Chief Tony Anenih, the chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority and now Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees.

Apart from his age, close to 80 years, his public service records certainly do not recommend him for all the exalted positions that ‘Africa’s largest’ political party has been bestowing on him.

How not to build a nation: Reflections on Nigeria @ 52 (1)

This fascinating quote by journalist and activist, Godwin Onyeacholem, truly captures the Nigerian reality today. It’s been 52 years in the making.
Today, October 1, 2012, the Nigerian State under the supervision of President Goodluck Jonathan will perform the ritual of celebrating the country’s independence. It is noteworthy that the Jonathan administration has decided not to go for the pomp and circumstance associated with such celebrations which really would have added more insult to our collective injury. But typical of our ruling elite, the planned sombre celebration is just another ruse, meant to pave the way for a more elaborate, yet misguided, multi-billion naira celebration in 2014 to mark the centennial anniversary of the creation of Nigeria in 1914.
